Happy Winter Solstice to All.

It is at the darkest point in the year, that the world unites to celebrate the return of the Light. Not when it’s at its brightest…but when its been through the darkest night of the Soul…and a small flicker of light breaks through at the end of a very long tunnel.

When the darkness gives birth to the Light. That’s when we cheer…when we have just a glimmer of hope that the Sun is returning. It’s been one of our darkest years for sure…but out of the darkness is born the Prince of Peace. Out of the ruble and destruction of the past can a new world emerge.

May we turn our gaze inward at this time, acknowledge the heaviness of our own darkness, the hell we’ve been through, the separation and isolation we have felt, and just embrace it and let it go.

It’s time to excavate our own Light, give birth to the Christ consciousness within and dream a new world into being. Who are you? Why have you chosen to be here at this time on Earth? What authentic gifts will you choose to bring forth to bring this new dream into reality?

WE are the ones we’ve been waiting for…no one is coming to save us. Only unity will save us. Love is the answer. Choose freedom over security, devotion over duty, and wisdom over knowledge.

Align with the energy of this Winter Solstice as we move boldly forward into the  future.~laurie frazier

The Longest Night—Winter Solstice Significance

DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL

“Darkness has its teachings….”  is a line from Trevor Hall song. Darkness contains some of our most profound lessons.

Light is not born from light—but out of darkness. When we are born, we come out of a dark womb. Jesus was born in a manger, other savior-types were born in caves. We all come from darkness into the Light.

It is at the coldest, darkest point in the year, that the Light is celebrated on the Winter Solstice. Not because the Sun is at its strongest or brightest then, but because of the promise—the promise of light and warmth to come. The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night, in other words, the longest period of darkness in a 24-hr period in the entire year. It’s a passage from darkness into Light; a portal of sorts.  Like after a dark night of the Soul, when you barely reach the other side, with skinned knees, broken heart, and beat-the-fuck-up. But you know, you just know, you will be ok—you will survive this, too. The point when you realize that there is finally light at the end of the long, dark tunnel. It is a glorious moment.

There is something here that is more palpable, than when you are at the pinnacle of all your glory and have reached the goal and are now basking in the light of your hard-won accomplishments. There is something about this moment, something magical when you pass the darkest threshold. You feel like you can finally stop holding your breath, you are flooded with gratitude like your life will go on—it’s a rising-from-the-ashes-phoenix-kind-of-moment. That’s where the celebration begins. You got to the other side! You braved the solitary journey that only you could make. You emerge from the depths and there is your Divine Team of Light cheering you on. This is the vibe of the Winter Solstice. It’s a victory kind of moment. “You made it!!” You have emerged from the darkness.

It’s as if in that darkest point, you went through a death of sorts. Whether it was a battle with addiction, the end of a toxic relationship, a personal battle fought within, or a huge loss/setback of sorts. It’s part of a cycle dedicated to death, dying and a stripping away of lingering attachments that are no longer aligned with your Highest Self. It’s a process of whittling down external and material things, that are no longer authentic for you. And often, it’s that which will give you the greatest lessons to lose, whether that is your health, a loved one, a career, a home, wealth, etc.that show-up. I think sometimes the things/people we identify with most, get stripped away to show us that we are not that. We get to realize that we are not those things we so desperately attempt to identify with.  We are not our coveted careers, our prized relationships, our precious possessions, our most brilliant ideas and thoughts, or even our life’s work. Those things do not define us.
You died to something in this dark space, and you birthed a new Self in the process. And the Universe cheers your hero’s journey. And it is out of this darkness, pain, agony, and heartbreak that the Light is born within. For without darkness, we could not know and appreciate the Light. That’s why this moment is so miraculous. Some don’t make it to the other side. Some die. Some fear death so they don’t even attempt the journey. Many are paralyzed with fear, afraid of the dark, especially their own darkness and what may be lurking in the shadows.

But not you. You are brave and courageous. You were born to do this!! You chose the evolutionary path. You wanted to learn as much as you could in this lifetime—just in case you don’t get another one! You, brave warriors, ‘chose in’ to every bit of it. You may not remember that, but allow me to remind you-you did. You are having the exact experience that you came to this particular planet to learn. Yay, you!!! Yay for all of your many challenges and perceived struggles. How much have you learned there in the dark? I venture to guess it was a lot more, not to mention more meaningful and significant, then anything you have ever learned in the Light.

Would you trade it? Would you choose easier? Never. You would not be the you that you are now. We need look no further than to butterflies and chicks. Huh? If you help them get out of their own cocoon or shell, they will not survive. The must do it themSelves. If makes them strong and ready for their next incarnation/re-birth. Evidently, it’s part of our human journey, as well. “Into every life, a lil rain must fall.” It shows us who we are, what we are made of, and how we’d like to show up differently next time.

When you shift your perception from life is happening to you to that of life is happening for you and that you are actually a request for all that shows up, then you have real power. Contrastingly, when you believe that life is happening to you, that there is nothing you can do about it, and that you are at effect,  it’s as if you envision yourself a tiny sailboat being tossed to and fro on the big-bad ocean. All these waves (problems, people,& challenges) are coming at you and you can’t even take the helm. You are a helpless (and often a hopeless) victim. Life is happening to you and you are at its mercy.

When you understand that you are accountable for everything that comes into your space, then you have a beginning point. A launch pad for your life! What if there really were no one to blame for anything? What if you knew that your soul was actually a request for every challenge that has come into your life? It’s the good news and the bad news. Bad news like fuuuuuuuuh!!! I created all this?!? Yes, you did, on some level.1

Good news, in that, you are not a victim!! Congratulations!! If you unconsciously created all the chaos and crap in your life, imagine what you could do with some conscious intention directed to your thoughts, actions, and emotions. What would you choose to create if you knew you were the master of your destiny? How will you enlist all the powers and forces available to you to do so? How will you show up as the powerful-creator you have always known/wished yourSelf to be in the world? What would that even look like for you? Who would you be if you took charge and were just accountable for all of it? It’s a place of power and empowerment.

News flash!!  This is where your life actually gets really fun and you can start playing with some really cool ideas, concepts, energies, quantum physics, astrology, etc. Many of which we will discuss in this book. But for now, start thinking about what you would like your life to look like and what has been in your way? The way I see it, the only thing that is ever in the way of my success, is me. So start thinking about all of the excuses you have for your own mediocrity…those reasons you have told others and even bought into yourself about your parents, your childhood, your ex, job situation, etc. Write them down. How do they make you feel?

They are not the truth. And none of them are reasons that you can’t create and have your best life.

So align with the energy of the Winter Solstice to think about what you’d like to birth. It’s a time of germination, of reflection and resolution. It’s a time to dream and to plant seeds. You have come through a lot, you’ve let go of, or been stripped of much. How will you recreate yourSelf and emerge from the cave?  What seeds of authenticity do you want to plant and nurture? How can you become more YOU? As you envision and conjure a more authentic life for yourSelf, what does that look like? What does it feel like?

In a brilliant poem by David Whyte, he declares, “Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you.”

Here’s to letting go of all that is just too small for you, and to dreaming, envisioning and conjuring your biggest, brightest, most authentic Self. It’s a journey you want to take and a path worth following—your journey, your path, your life.

New Beginnings & the Winter Solstice

New beginnings arise when the old is finished. Even though the Winter Solstice is the darkest point of the whole year, it is the birth of the Light that we celebrate. Take courage that when you are at your darkest hour, the Light is not far behind. Know that when you clear out the old— ineffective, worn-out, (ego-based) ways of being and behavior, relationships that are not feeding your soul, jobs that are not in alignment with your higher purpose, harmful addictions, etc (none of which are easy, and all of which may be concurrently terrifying), you are saying YES to you, and therefore yes to the Universe, and therefore yes to the Light to come. You are clearing sacred space on your sacred path, for a new road to arise. It is always the road less traveled by you. It is always unknown. Only brave souls dare tread in foreign lands as this.

There are some pre-requisites to this undertaking. Clarity of heart, courage to trust, and a love of Self so big that nothing can shake. Blessings on your journey fellow travelers. May the Light we encounter be so bright, the likes of which we have never known. Arriving one step closer to the truth of us, standing a lil taller for giving ourSelves an extra vote, stronger in conviction and more deeply in love with ourSelves. Shine on. Shine on, beautiful warriors. It is your deep Light and fire within you that illuminates your path.

Winter Solstice Musings....

Good Morning, Winter and your beautiful snowy accompanist.  I want to apologize and request your forgiveness for being such a hater in my youth.  I grew up in Maine, and it was extra cold there.  I had to walk to school often before my hair was dried, and by the time I got to school, my wet hair would be frozen. It would start getting dark soon after I got home.  I could see my breath in my room growing up.  I hated you sooo much.  I really didn’t think there was anything to like about you, except for an occasional snow-day off from school.  I was never big on winter sports or activities because my cold-Vata-self just couldn’t take it.  You chilled me to the bone, and I could not wait for you to depart so my beautiful Sunny could show up as your replacement.

I have learned to love you, your chill and your darkness as I have learned to love my own.  I see you now.  I see your beauty. I see your magic.  I see you twinkle.

I used to hate my own darkness too, so how could I possibly love yours.  I projected my Ice Queen self onto you.  You were the one that was cold and frigid.  You were the one that got dark and distant.

As I learned to embrace those cold and dark places within myself and began to see that they too, had beauty, I became more loving not only to myself but of others and their shadowy-Selves.

If we can only love the Light and the shine-y parts of ourselves, we will only allow the shine-y in others.  We will reject the cold, dark places in others, as we have ourselves.  We will cut off friendships, romantic partnerships, and business opportunities at the first sign of any chill and miss out on true intimacy, depth, and growth.  Authenticity only exists in both.  To truly love ourSelves and then others, we must embrace ourSelves in our totality, Light and Dark, Cold and Warm.  Real relationships and real people have range.  We are neither all Shine-y, nor all Darkness.

Let us remember this, at this the longest night and shortest day of the year.  As we celebrate the return of the Light, let us allow that Light to warm some of our own dark places of unkindness, smallness, bitterness, hostility, insecurities, etc.  Let us remember that we are all just walking each other home.  May we have space in our imperfections, for others in theirs.  May we drop the masks of perfection and embrace authenticity.  May we afford the compassion and acceptance to others as we would wish upon ourSelves.

May we truly see with new eyes, the beauty, and the magic, not only in the blustery season called winter but in the cold and dark places within ourselves and fellow travelers. May we shine our Light for those in the shadows, that they may find their way a little easier and be grateful for those who have done so for us. We are One.  We are duality.  We are Light and we are Dark.  We are all just lil humans awakening to our own Truth. Om Shanti.

Winter Solstice— A Time of *Reflection*Resolution*Renewal

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It’s when the Northern Hemisphere is the darkest.  People around the world of different cultures and faiths gather in anticipation and rejoicing at the Sun’s return. It is a time of reflection, resolution and renewal.
I. A Time of Reflection
As we find ourselves at the close of 2011 on Winter Solstice, when the sun is at it’s lowest point, the longest night and the most profound descent into the dark, it’s a great time for us to reflect upon our own darkness...our own areas of life that lack authenticity, that no longer serve us, where we have been dimming our light.
What is it, that we would most like to leave behind for good in 2011, so that we can boldly and courageously move unencumbered into our truth in 2012?  2012 is an important year. It is the year the world  has declared to be the year of awakening. The year when we will unite our Light for the betterment of all.
Before we can speak of this warmth, unity and return to the Light, we must first understand and REFLECT on its opposite...separation, duality and darkness.  We must understand where we have been, to know where we want to go...and where we never want to go again.
This illumination of light and dark is happening all across the planet - showing us what's NOT working in relationships, in business, in politics, in religion, and more.
Back to my original question...What is it that you would most like to leave behind?? Sit back and simply reflect as I cover some examples (in case you’re having trouble thinking of any :))  In no way is this list comprehensive.  Just a few ideas to get you thinking.  Sometimes we become so complacent that FINE actually becomes acceptable.  Now these are going to seem negative…I don’t want to lose you here…the idea is to find that thing or things that you have truly had enough of in your life…that you finally want to release to be the person you were meant to be and always knew you could be…if only, you could just….
Are you holding on to any emotional toxicity?
Is there someone out there, that you still have yet to forgive?  YOURSELF, perhaps?
Who, after all of these years, are you still angry with?
Are you still blaming someone else for all the crap in your life?
Are you harboring jealousies, resentments, greed, sadness or insecurities?

What about your relationships?

How many of you are in relationships that feel more like bondage than liberation and joy?

Are you staying in relationships for your kids or financial reasons?

Do your relationships feel more draining than fulfilling-filled with jealousy, fighting and drama?

Are there family members you no longer speak with or harbor unresolved issues?

What about your lifestyle?
How are you treating your body? The temple that houses your Spirit and allows you to carry out your life purpose.
Do you get the rest you deserve, at least 7-8 hrs a day?
Are you eating live, vibrant, nutritious foods? Or are you unconscious about the food
      you put into your body?
DO you eat more fast, frozen, canned and processed food than you do live?
Do you get enough movement, exercise and flexibility into your life?
Are you dragging around extra pounds that keep you from enjoying life?
Are you creating time to meditate, reflect, be in nature and experience silence daily?
How about your career?
Are you in love with what you do?
Is your job/career your passion or just a paycheck?
Do you dread getting up in the morning because you have to go to work?
Is your job/career in alignment with your spirit and life purpose?
Are you making the money that you feel you deserve?
Do you make time to learn things you’re passionate about?
How about your church/faith?
Are you still going just to please your parents or kids?
Do you really believe in it or is it just your social network?
Are you there because of any guilt or fear you may incur if you didn’t go?
Does your religion hinder you in any way from living a life that you love?
And finally, if nothing has struck a chord with you yet, where have you been playing small?
Where have you been not only dimming, but hiding your light or your talents all together?
Do you have some Divine gifts that you would like to develop or that you have been afraid to share?
If your answers to these questions are anything less than satisfactory to you, then when would NOW be a good time to commit to letting go, to shifting or transforming any and all of these things that no longer serve you and your Highest Self??
I encourage you in the next couple of days to really swim in some of these things that you feel have been dragging you down the most and keeping you from being your most authentic, wonderful Self. Shine the light on some of your own dark places, don’t make yourself wrong or beat yourself up for it, just ask yourself if that way of being is still serving you…if it isn’t, commit to letting it go or transmuting it in some way.
If you have been feeling that now is the time, if your shadow has been rearing its ugly head, if you have finally had it over your eyeballs with a relationship or job that drains you, one where you feel you are constantly dimming your light...if you are soo tired of playing small in your life, then congrats, you are right where you deserve to be and aligned with the dark energies present. AND... you are ready to move forward.
II. A Time of Resolution
So, how do we rid ourselves of these things we wish to let go of?  First of all, we acknowledge our 100% accountability.  We lose the victim-mentality and stop pointing the finger of blame at someone, something, some event or circumstance “out there”.
The problem is not “out-there”.  We will NEVER be able to point the finger of blame at someone else or institution, wether it be the president, wall street, the federal reserve, etc and change the world. We are accountable for the sad state of affairs in our planet, nation and individual lives.
All of that “out there” is a reflection of the duality, the disconnect and the separation within ourselves.  What is out there is also in here (point to heart)! You’ve heard the old adage, as is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm...or as above so below.  The world as we know it today, of separation and hatred between nations, peoples, cultures and religions...is a direct mirror and reflection of that energy within ourselves.
Until we have peace within, we will not have it without.
Until we have peace within our families, we will not have it with our communities.
Until there is peace within our communities there will be no peace in our nation and until we have peace in our own nation, we will never achieve world peace.
If we are still struggling with forgiving someone or ourselves, if we are still at war with someone in our family, if we are harboring anger, jealousy and resentment of any kind, WE are contributing to the chaos and violence on the planet. These emotions are getting in the way of your greatness.
When we truly understand, how connected we all are and that our emotions and feelings have a ripple effect, not only in our own homes but in the world, maybe then we will be more conscious. Maybe then we will be more accountable. Every decision we make is a choice between a grievance and a miracle. Let 2011 be the year we leave all of our grievances behind and move into the miracle of 2012.
Decide, make a RESOLUTION, that YOU will do whatever it takes to rid yourSELF of all the negativity, emotional baggage, even physical habits that have you being less than vibrant. YOU make a difference. How you FEEL matters...how you feel effects others and the planet at large.
 III. A Time of Renewal
The Winter Solstice represents the return to the Light, longer days, new growth and welcoming the healing powers of warmth back into our world. Mindful & heartful intentions are very powerful on this day.  We can harness this energy to contemplate what we would like to birth in ourselves, our lives and our world in the year to come.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
As the LIGHT physically begins to return to the earth and as we move forward to 2012...allow the LIGHT or your truth, your authenticity, your magnificence, return to your Soul...and SHINE BRIGHT FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE!! NOW is the time...WE are the ones we have been waiting for ♥ I SEE YOU ♥~lf
